Position summary
Downer has a long history of delivering Transport Infrastructure Projects under a variety of contracting models. Services include the design and construction of light rail, heavy rail, signalling, track and station works, rail safety technology, bridges and roads.
THE PROJECT:
The Djilang Alliance, comprising of Downer, McConnell Dowell, Arup and WSP Australia, has been selected as the preferred contractor for the South Geelong to Waurn Ponds Duplication.
The South Geelong to Waurn Ponds Duplication is part of the Australian and Victorian governments’ more than $1 billion investment in the staged upgrade of the Geelong Line and a critical step in delivering more frequent and reliable services.
With a completion date targeted for 2024, the project will include:
Duplicating around eight kilometres of track between South Geelong and Waurn Ponds
Rebuilding South Geelong and Marshall stations featuring new station buildings and forecourts, second platforms and accessible pedestrian overpasses
Removal of the level crossings at Fyans Street and Surf Coast Highway and replaced with elevated rail bridges
Signalling upgrades between South Geelong and Waurn Ponds
More than five kilometres of new shared user paths linking to existing trails and paths and creating a continuous connection between South Geelong and Waurn Ponds.
The Role:
The newly formed Djilang Alliance are now seeking a Works Readiness Coordinator to be engaged by Downer on a full-time permanent basis.
You will support the Delivery Team by administering, communicating and ensure compliance with the ARTO Works Readiness procedure
Reporting to the Mobilisation Manager, you will be based at our project site in South Geelong or office location of Melbourne CBD (with Working from Home flexibility).
Responsibilities include:
Assist the Rail Safety and Delivery team to plan associated work events based on delivery milestones
Manage the Works Readiness submissions for occupations
Liaise with the Third-Party Access Lead to support the correlation between Works Readiness and SAPs
Facilitate/Participate in weekly Stakeholder Interface meetings
Liaise engineers to ensure appropriate Works Readiness knowledge, planning and preparation is in place
Works consistent with the relevant standards, policies and management plans
About You:
Proven experience working to tight time frames in a changing environment and ability to work under pressure and manage stakeholder expectations
Outcome focused, hands on, and operational, with good technical capability
Self-motivated and possessing good planning skills demonstrating high attention to detail
Able to build solid understanding of the business priorities to deliver a high standard of effective and integrated solutions
Experience in developing, analysing and reporting on complex project performance, compliance and defects and/or non-conformance
Team player using own initiative; proactive / not reactive
Previous experience working with a Rail Transport Operator advantageous

About the Role
- Provide specialist advice and operational support to Youi In relation to employment law, WHS and ER issues across Australia, New Zealand and RSA
- Coach People & Culture team members in the management of employee relations matters, conduct investigations and manage complex issues with a focus on minimising reliance on external legal advice
- Represent Youi’s interests in disciplinary, performance and dispute resolution including advocacy in external tribunals
- Collaborate with the P&C team to develop and deliver training to leaders to ensure they have the knowledge, tools and skill to pro-actively manage employment law risks and maximise opportunities to grow our people
- Refine and maintain a cohesive suite of policies that promote an inclusive and productive workplace and ensure compliance with regulatory change
- Lead the ongoing review and management of employment agreements, terms and conditions
- Lead negotiations for collective agreements (NZ) and engage with unions as required
- Collaborate with Payroll, Operations and Remuneration to ensure wages compliance
- Lead project work through researching, designing, implementing and delivering ER initiatives
About You
- Tertiary qualification in Employment Law/Human Resources/related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in advising on individual people matters, including complex misconduct investigations and grievances.
- Proactive approach with the ability to provide practical and pragmatic solutions to support business needs and deliver optimal Group outcomes.
- Excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills and ability to relate to people at all levels of the organisation along with the ability to influence and negotiate.
- High level conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to apply them in the management of cases.
- Demonstrated skills using reporting to analyse trends and insights.
- Experience in coaching, mentoring and leading others.

About the role
The temporary 12 month role of Place Liaison Officer is to help maintain good relations between organisations and members of the community with a particular focus on the Parramatta Square precinct. This is done by working with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders including commercial tenants, young people, rough sleepers and other community members within the Parramatta Square Public Domain.
The Place Liaison Officer will engage with people experiencing homelessness who are occupying the public space to link them with services and pathways to exit homelessness. The Place Liaison Officer is responsible for liaising with vulnerable people with a range of complex and challenging needs to reduce homelessness, improve amenity and contribute to a reduction in anti-social behaviour. The Place Liaison Officer also coordinates between internal staff in relation to cleansing or maintenance services or supporting the work of the Parramatta Square / Centenary Square Place Manager in ensuring optimal operation of the precinct.

We are seeking an individual who is proactive, able to ‘think on their feet’ and work with a variety of situations, individuals, and groups. This includes being able to quickly adapt and respond positively to change and manage customer needs promptly and professionally.
