We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager, to join our busy and expanding London Infrastructure business, supporting our clients deliver a range of rail projects and programmes across London and the South East of England.
Owing to the complex nature of the works involved, this role will suit Senior Project Managers from a rail background with proven experience and understanding of rail processes. NEC accreditation is also preferred.
At Turner & Townsend Project Managers handle commissions of varying sizes, depending upon the complexity of the project, etc. Typically, projects fall within the £1m to £10m range. When in a supporting role, the project size may be far greater.
MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE:
- To lead Project Management Commissions, taking responsibility for end to end service delivery.
- To provide support on major Project Management Commissions, taking responsibility for an aspect of service delivery.
- To ensure that client objectives are met and that projects are delivered to time and cost targets and the appropriate quality standards.
- Supporting clients make informed decisions, as they transition to Net Zero and deal with wider changes to make themselves more sustainable.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Preparing and maintaining definitions of project requirements
- Helping to establish the overall success criteria for the project, including time, cost, technical and performance parameters
- Establishing effective project governance, processes and systems to be utilised throughout project
- Preparing and maintaining schedules of activity, including producing the master project plan
- Managing the development of the project in accordance with approved plans and targets
- Developing and implementing resource plans and procurement of resources
- Leading and facilitating the overall cross-functional project team
- Monitoring and applying performance management techniques
- Managing the change control process
- Developing and agreeing budgets and controlling forecast and actual costs against them
- Managing the flow of project information between the team and the client, through regular meetings and written communications
- Identifying and monitoring project risks and planning and implementing risk mitigations
- Preparing formal project progress and other reports
- Taking a leading role in interfacing with the client, other consultants, and managing stakeholders at all project stages
- Advising the client regarding Health & Safety and Environmental issues and risks.
- Degree qualified in a construction related subject
- Preferred if chartered/qualified with ICE, APM, RICS etc
- Preferred if NEC3: ECC Project Manager accreditation is in place
- Preferred if experience is in a complex stakeholder environment

We are looking to speak with Project Managers to help us assist our clients deliver high profile projects across the Infrastructure Sector.
As a member of our growing team, you would be working to help us make a difference with our clients in delivering highly complex projects and programmes.
You would be based out of our London office and most likely spend most of your time mixed-working with colleagues and client teams based across the South East. Most of our roles support hybrid working.
Main attributes:

- Leading, managing and developing project teams or work streams as part of larger projects and delivering results through others;
- Commercially aware; experienced in monthly budgeting/forecasting and managing project budgets
- Being responsible for high quality delivery on a client assignment;
- Demonstrating knowledge and experience in one or more related business/infrastructure sector areas
- Demonstrating knowledge and experience of relevant project management skillsets;
- Building long-term trusted advisor relationships with our clients;
- Communicating effectively and focusing on efficient, collaborative and quality delivery;
Desired Experience:
- Previous experience of working with UK Government organisations would be beneficial particularly highways, rail, flood risk, defence and/or water companies;
- Experience of project management and/or programme management, adding value at the initial strategic planning phase all the way into implementation, construction and delivery in the context of infrastructure projects and programmes;
- Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable working with a diverse range of personalities across clients and partner organisations;
- Ability to engage and manage multiple stakeholders
- Able to deliver projects within a technically complex environment whilst ensuring high levels of safety and environmental responsibility;
- Strong analytical and numerical skills / flexibility to rapidly understand complex problems and shape these into workable solutions for delivery;
- Ability to develop and deliver high quality output against stated business and technical project objectives and meet tight deadlines safely;
- High level of drive, commitment to achieving solutions, and ability to work under pressure and motivate others with the same objective;
- Strong planning and organising skills including the ability to manage several work streams simultaneously;
- Ability to develop concise and effective written presentations and participate effectively in meetings with senior client representatives;
- Previous experience of procurement and managing NEC contracts would be highly advantageous
- Experience of managing contractors, consultants and other advisors on infrastructure projects
- Degree or HND qualification in an engineering, construction or infrastructure related subject;
- Professionally qualified or near qualified status with the APM, ICE, CIWEM, or similar professional institution would be advantageous;
- Project management certification is preferred (APM/PRINCE2/MSP);
- NEC PM Accreditations or qualifications would be desirable.
